"Your Tributes"

It was an event I was never prepared for. But I knew the day would come when Nanook had to leave us all for greater things.

I was told after Nanook had passed that he received so many gracious tributes from the Brisbane and wider communities and that not even a famous person who

lived got so many tributes.

I have been so proud of what Nanook has been able to achieve while with us all, and hope someday I can truly thank everyone of you for sharing your wishes, grief, and even your shock too, of my little man who touched us all.

So thank you, and thank you for sharing your words about my

"Magical Creature"

by the name of "Nanook".

In loving memory of this incredible gentle giant who touched so many lives and left an incredible legacy.

Nanook and Gav have been part of our Juiced family for many years and we cannot describe the pure joy Nanook brought to everyone who came into contact with him.

We love you Nanook and Gav, you’re in our hearts forever.

During Nanook's very short time on this earth, he touched so many hearts. Not just the hearts of the children of the Hospital, but the wider community of Brisbane and that of greater Queensland.

The beautiful Ange Anderson from Brisbane's Nova 106.9 radio program shared her tribute for the lost soul of Nanook.

The amazing Debbie Marsden from the Wellpets team that sponsored Nanook for over 3 years and went on to Sponsor Delta Therapy Dogs National due to the Connection Nanook had with WellPets and Debbie in more details.

This wonderful company moved Heaven and Earth to Bring Nanook back to me.

But for Nanook, that was not to happen. Nanook shines brightly day and night at Home, and also brightly in our hearts.

When Nanook passed away, it was only days later that a lady new the true understanding of what Nanook did in the short 8 years he was with us all.

After spending a weekend reading your Facebook Posts and all of the tributes that were to follow, really showed the impact he had on others, but also on this lady.

She mustered the people from her work and put together a very meaningful gift for Nanooks Dad and his family.

So weeks Later, this gift of a Star Arrived. A Star named after our dearly parted Nanook. A Star in the Lyra System is a Star named after Nanook, and i am sure he sailed past there on his way to Heaven.

So look skywards one night and you may even have a star wink back at you. Nanook is watching over us all.

Without my Friend Nanook, I would never have met so many beautiful and wonderful people.

During our visits to the Children's Hospital, I met this lady and her son. From here, the bond between them and Nanook was chiseled in stone forever.

The day our beloved Nanook passed, it triggered a series of events for those that he touched. So, please take the time to watch what Lorraine has put together as a bit of a summary of his life and in memory of our little Baby boy Nanook Samuel.

" NANOOK COMES HOME "

at The Childrens Hospital

Today, the work of "Art of Nanook" was unveiled at the Queensland Children Hospital here in Brisbane. For nearly 5 years, Nanook walked the halls of the Children's Surgical Hospital and Aged care units in Brisbane and brought smiles, laughter and sometime tears to those that needed it.

As a Tribute to Nanook and the Therapy work he did, this painting / portrait of Nanook was created by Deb Moster (Artist) with the many hands of the children he touched during his time, and it is with Pride and Honour that Nanook is home again at a place he loved, the Queensland Children's Hospital in Brisbane for all to see. Reflect and just sit and have a chat with him if you need to . He will always walk by your side and keep you safe.

You can find Nanook hanging on the Wall on Level 2 of the Queensland Children's Hospital, but you can also find him laying beside your bed, just waiting for a pat and to keep you safe, just like he did for me every night.

A Place to Sit and Reflect

2022

I know i cannot bring Nanook back to you all, but i can bring back Memories.

The best part about having my dear Nanook with me , is that i had the chance to share him with you and so many that needed him.

Having Nanook with me for nearly 8 years truly allowed me to appreciate what i had in life.

Meeting so so many people, Children, Families and having them share with Nanook and I what their lives were all about and what they were going through.

As i have mentioned, i can not bring Nanook Back, but i can reflect of the many great things he did for so many.

The Places we went, the events that we got involved with, the Charities we supported ( and those that supported us)have been truly amazing. Memories that could circle the earth many times over.

For this , I have built a Place to Reflect. A Seat made to stand the test of time, A seat that will house, Myself, My wife and our Memory of Nanook right beside us. ( a seat for 3 )

"And So this creation Begins"

Begin with the End in Mind.

The Timber needed to be solid, just like Nanook, It needed to carry the weight of the world and the memories that we had built over the years, and more importantly, it needed to carry YOUR words of Nanook.

I reached out to you all to describe what Nanook Meant to You, and it was these words that would be etched into Nanooks Seat and allow those that sat with him to know what he meant to so many.

Words Like - Respect, Support, Courage, Hope, Joy, Strength, and with the very much kind permission the Name "SLATER" A name, a memory that i will carry in my heart till i meet him again.

A young and Strong young boy that wanted to meet us , and us he, a boy that had all of these words, a boy that is stronger than us all, and his mum that still carries his memories every dam second that he is not hear. Slaters Time on this earth was cut way to short, but the people that met him, will cereous what he had shared with them. He was larger than life.

Design to be built using old school techniques and skills that i had ( limited as they are)

Old Railway Sleepers , Dressed and finished
Cypress Pine, Just like Nanooks Coat, Fine and blond and smelt just beautiful
Railway Spikes sources from Laidley to bring it all of the together.
And a Local company that helped Etch your words into his rest.

With the help of a Local Etching company , my project started to come to life

Design, Layout Words, Fonts , Depth, it all took time as i wanted to get this right for Nanook.

The project evolved over the coming months, from pre building, than back to Georgia at Verge Laser in Capalaba for final layout and Lasering. It was all coming together.

It needed to be completed by the 5/5/22 ( Nanooks 2 year anniversary) and yeap, Like Nanook, It was on time.
